Visitor Guide
Our Visitation Policies
Paradise Valley Hospital recognizes and embraces the important role that visitors play in the mental well-being and recovery of patients, while remaining vigilant in following infection prevention guidelines.
Visitors will be screened and not allowed admittance if symptomatic. Those with a cough, shortness of breath, headache, nausea, diarrhea, loss of smell or taste, sore throat, respiratory congestion, or runny nose will not be allowed into the facility.
Visiting Hours:
- Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, and Behavioral Health Units: 11 AM-8 PM.
- Two visitors per patient allowed at any one time. No visitors allowed under 16 years of age.
- Visits may be limited by the patient’s physician or charge nurse, as determined by the patient’s condition.
- Emergency Department: Visitors may utilize the waiting room as social distancing allows.
- Minors may be allowed in the waiting area at the discretion of the physician. An adult must accompany any minors.
- One visitor may be allowed into the Emergency Department at the discretion of the physician or the charge nurse.
- Family and visitors are kept advised of the patient’s condition at frequent intervals by the nurse, physician, or a representative of the Emergency Department.
- Intensive Care Unit: Visiting hours from 8:30 AM-8:30 PM, but no visitors during shift change, 7-8 PM.
- Length of time at bedside may vary from visit to visit and patient to patient depending on the patient’s condition and activity occurring in the ICU.
- No more than two visitors at a time without approval from the patient’s RN.
- No visitors under 16 years of age allowed.
- Flowers, live plants, latex, balloons, and outside food are not allowed in the ICU.
- Visitors to isolation rooms are allowed at the discretion of the charge nurse. Necessary protective procedures must be taken for the specific isolation.
- South Bay Rehabilitation Center
- Open visiting hours. However, visits must be compatible with patient therapy schedules.
- Family and significant others are encouraged to participate in the rehabilitation process.
- There is no age limit for patient visitors.
- Visits to patient therapy sessions are left to the discretion of the patient’s therapist. We prefer that these visits be arranged ahead of time.
- Operating Room and Post-Anesthesia: Visitors are not allowed into the Operating Room or Post-Anesthesia departments.
- Visitors may utilize the waiting room.
Conditions for Visitation:
- All visitors and support persons must stay in the patient’s room or designated waiting areas.
- Only two visitors for each patient are allowed at one time, unless otherwise specified.
- No visitors are allowed in the Surgery department, or post-surgery area.
- One visitor is allowed to be with the patient in the Emergency Department, with permission. The emergency department waiting room is open.
- Children under 16 are not allowed except with permission from the unit’s charge nurse.
- Visitors are only allowed in the patient’s room or in the unit’s waiting area. For example, visitors should not walk around in hallways of the facility and must go directly to and from the patient’s room.
- Visitors must obtain permission from the charge nurse of the patient care unit in order to visit with any patient in an isolation room. Children aged 16 or younger are not allowed to visit patients in isolation.
